Weds, July 1st

Chicago One Love Kick-Off @
 Logan Square Auditorium, 6pm

The 7th Annual Chicago Hip-Hop Heritage Month celebrations will kick off in grand fashion this year as the local hip-hop community comes together to not only celebrate and mark the contributions of their own, they will converge as a united voice to take a stand, and amplify a collective voice against violence in Chicago, especially violence that affects children... in this year’s community kick-off concert entitled Chicago One Love with special performances by Jitu Tha Jugganot, Dr Groove, Ang 13, Respect Ours, Kuumba Lynx, NoTryDo Sincere, FM Supreme, Lid Law, Aqua Moon, 21st Century Hip-Hop, Poetree Chicago, Amina, Coolout Chris, Absolute Ikon, and more...

Elastic Hip-Hop Series ‘All Stars’ with 360 Emcee Battle, 8pm

This night will also showcase Elastic Hip-Hop Series All Stars,
Phillip Morris, Urbanized Music, among others...

Brave New Voices, The 12th annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival, convenes the top young poets and spoken word artists, aged 13-19, from across the United States and beyond. Brave New Voices 2009 will take place in Chicago, IL from July 14 – 19. Finals take place at Chicago Theater on

The stage opens at 9pm with an  open mic, followed by featured performances.
