We are Chicago Hip-Hop Initiative, a nonprofit hip-hop community development organization, whose mission is to support and empower the Chicagoland hip-hop community.
Chicago Hip-Hop Initiative services are available to all, but our programs are planned and facilitated by our members, and managed by our Board of Directors. Membership is open, and we are always looking for headz across the city to become active C.H.I. members, joining us in community organizing at various levels.
There’s always something to do, and there’s something for everyone. In 2003 we drafted a resolution which was presented to the City Council of Chicago on our behalf by 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. to recognize the month of July as Chicago Hip-Hop Heritage Month. The resolution passed, and now Chicago has an entire month to celebrate hip-hop culture.
This year C.H.I. programs/services are set to include workshops, voter's education campaigns, business training and assistance, youth programs, and many other initiatives to empower headz. As we enter a new season, we'd love to find out what issues are important to you, and how the Chicago Hip-Hop Initiative might be able to assist you in your endeavors.
We invite your participation, influence, and support, and hope that in time, our offerings may benefit every hip-hop head in Chicago, and far beyond. There's a lot of work to be done, we're just trying help move the generation forward, one head at a time. Please let us know how we can be of assistance to you.
