Chicago Hip-Hop:
All Headz On Deck
Saturday, July 24th, 2010
Beginning Promptly At Noon
At the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park
As part of the 8th Annual celebrations of Chicago Hip-Hop Heritage Month, local hip-hop artists will come together on Saturday July 24th, at noon as a unified voice sharing messages of peace, love, and harmony. In the spirit of community and family, ‘All Headz On Deck!’ invites everyone out for an afternoon of hip-hop music, poetry, and dance. This show will expose audiences to the elements of hip-hop as an artistic medium of creative expression, vehicle for civic engagement, and as a movement that continues to influence the very fabric of modern pop-culture. If you thought you knew hip-hop, then think again. This show shines light on the true essence of hip-hop culture, devoid of commercial influence, media hype, and sensationalism. It is a raw, organic look at hip-hop with performances by some of the city’s favorite artists in a 1hour non-stop cypher of lyrics and music. Pack a picnic, bring the entire family, and enjoy a great show with the beautiful city as a backdrop. Then meet local hip-hop performing artists, musicians, poets, dancers, and pioneers on the Great Lawn. This will be a Saturday afternoon to remember!
